You may audition in person in Christchurch or by video submission if you are based nationally or internationally.

Step 1 – Apply

• Complete the Application Form and submit supporting documents:

  • Dance CV and performance history.

  • Academic transcripts.

  • Personal statement.

  • Headshot.

Step 2 – Pay the Application Fee

• $110 (non-refundable).

Step 3 – Prepare for Your Audition

• Ballet class (barre, centre, allegro).

• Contemporary/character class.

• Solo performance (your choice of ballet or contemporary, 1–2 minutes).

• Interview with Artistic Director and faculty.

• Medical form completed with GP/physio

Step 4 – Outcome

• You’ll receive a Letter of Offer if successful, including your enrolment agreement and fee schedule.

Once accepted:

1. Sign and return your Enrolment Agreement

2. Provide supporting forms:

   • Medical form.

   • Risk disclosure agreementNZYBC Risk Disclosure Form.

   • Communication consent

   • Parent/Teacher Interview agreement (if under 18).

3. Secure your place with a deposit (details in fee structure).

4. Finalise accommodation (if needed).

5. Attend the Orientation Programme at the start of Term 1.

We’re passionate about placing students in the right home. Our hope is that students establish friendships with members of their homestay family, giving them lasting connection with our dance school and our beautiful city. This option is available to all students attending the New Zealand Youth Ballet Company.

Domestic Students 2026:

• Enrollment Fee $500

• Domestic Students: NZD $16,800 per annum. (see full fee schedule)

• Student Services Levy: NZD $1,200 per annum.

International Students 2026:

• International Students: NZD $24,000 per annum (see full fee schedule) .

Additional Costs: uniforms, private lessons, assessments, tours.

Fee Protection: All tuition is safeguarded under the Public Trust Fee Protection Scheme, ensuring your investment is secure.

Withdrawal within the first 8 days of the course: refund available minus enrolment and admin fee.

Withdrawal after this date: no refund, except in exceptional circumstances if presented to the Board of Directors (at their Discretion).
